Sundance catalog

Have you seen the Sundance catalog? I love upholstered chairs and this one, their Wildflower chair looks perfect for summer. My favorite items on their website, however, are the jewelry: beautiful, handcrafted artisanal creations with prices varying from less than $100 to $1000 and above. C'est magnifique and very boho chic! (I am learning French this summer, so bear with me.)
Visit the Sundance catalog (yes, just like the film festival) here

Maker Faire Pictures

If you live in the SF Bay area, did you attend the Maker Faire in San Mateo this past weekend? My boys love this event. If you are a geek or love creativity in any form, this is a must-attend event and since all of us fit into one or both of those categories, we had to go. My older son was a volunteer which meant that we spent entire Sunday there. I want to share with you some pictures that I took of the various cool exhibits. There was, of course, all kinds of electronics and robotics and Tesla coils but there was also art, jewelry, puppets, knitting and sewing machines that could draw, tons of crafts for the kids and lots and lots of food.  It was wonderful to be in the midst of so much creativity!

To find out if there is a Maker Faire near you, visit their website.

Elle Decor (India): Colonial Style for Summer

Summer is here, and though we have had a day or two of sudden cool and crisp autumnal weather, it is mainly been warm. To me, nothing fits this weather better than a spare colonial style complete with whirring fans and flyway curtains and Elle Decor (India) has a feature on a lovely home that epitomizes this style.

T Magazine Inspiration: Taroudant

Happy Saturday! I have a beautiful link to share with you: of a town in Morocco and its inhabitants and its big blue skies and beautiful houses. Taroudant featured in the New York Times Magazine.  The colors remind me so much of the blue skies and bluer waters and mud-colored dwellings of my childhood in Muscat, Oman. The photography is by Simon Watson and you can find his absolutely dreamy portfolio here.

Fabrics on the wall?

A blast from the past today. I have been debating whether to use a suzani as a backdrop to add pattern and drama on one of the walls in my home and I remembered this room from designer John Robshaw's home. This is so beautiful because it has a timeless feeling to it and the interplay of patterns wake it up. Would you hang a large fabric that covers the wall or is it too bohemian, for lack of a better word,  for you?
